This guide aims to show you how to identify specific vintage design styles and retro design elements, and I’ll also share some tips on reproducing the style in your own work. Note that to keep a vintage design style looking relevant and fresh, designers will often mix elements of the vintage style with more modern design features. It’s this vintage/modern balance that makes a style look ‘vintage’ and not outdated.

6 Antique Fashion Plate Prints Included is a Victorian fashion print from 1855. These ladies look so stylish with their tiny waists and full skirts. One woman is wearing a gold colored gown with a blue ribbon in her hair. The other woman is wearing a pretty white tiered dress with blue accents. The other plates are lovely as well!

Hipster graphic designs are often in a minimal style with lines and even hand-drawn elements and typography styles. These projects use natural patterns and backgrounds – such as wood or chalkboard – or logos that overlay still images.

2 Grapes This antique pair of free prints vintage pictures shows a bunch of plump juicy looking green grapes with a dark green leaves and some coordinating Purple Grapes. The backgrounds are a nice aged sepia tone. I think they would look great in a kitchen, or displayed near bottles of great wine!

What does retro style mean? Retro or vintage design refers to a broad range of graphic design styles which lift influences and inspiration from different historical eras and retro style design, from mid-century modern graphic design and 50s art styles to vintage 70s graphic design.

9 Bohemian Butterflies Vintage Art Prints Another favorite collection! These lovely French prints show a nice selection of colorful butterflies with Flowers. The butterflies, and moths, are all different colors and sizes; the chartreuse butterflies are my favorites! The variety on these images makes me think of Anthropologie as they have a Bohemian style look!

South Africa played an active role in both conflicts, giving military support to insurgents who resisted Angola’s leftist government, and hunting down Namibian rebels who sought safety within Angola’s borders.

“This is one of the first episodes of mass tourism in the history of the world,” explains Baker. “There were 300 million postcards sent from the western front, for instance by people visiting the places where their relatives had died. And the photographers had to make these incredible compromises: making photographs of places that weren’t there anymore.”

Researching her series, Dewe Mathews worked closely with academics to locate the forgotten places along the western front where these unfortunate combatants had been shot. She then travelled to each spot and set up her camera there at dawn, recording whatever could be seen a century after the executions had taken place.
